Special Persons Day: Each year, during the spring, we celebrate Special Person Day at St. Norbert Catholic School. On this day, SNCS students can invite a special guest onto campus to enjoy lunch together (traditionally provided by each student’s family) and watch our all-school Spring Music Performance. It is a day full of excitement and fun that usually begins with lunch and lasts through dismissal time at about 3 p.m.
Each year the auction committee also sponsors various underwriting events. The underwriting events provide much of our seed money. An event such as ours comes with a price, of course, and the proceeds from Underwriting give the committee the cash flow it needs to organize the event. Ultimately, all this planning and preparation culminates in a wonderful celebration that benefits every student in our school.
Be Kind Week: Be Kind Week is our school’s public-awareness campaign that promotes positive relationships, drug-free choices, and healthful lives. St. Norbert Catholic School celebrates Be Kind Week with teachers incorporating age-appropriate lessons, and student council holding activities that support the positive aspects of kindness and healthy lifestyles.
Catholic Schools Week: Every year in late January, St. Norbert Catholic School, along with Catholic schools throughout the nation, celebrates the existence and the mission of Catholic Schools with Catholic Schools Week. Recalling the core values Catholic education strives to instill in every student, teacher and school administrator, a new theme is chosen each year.
At St. Norbert Catholic School, we begin Catholic Schools Week with our parish community. After Sunday Mass we invite parishioners and guests to our Pancake Breakfast. On this day, everyone is welcome to visit our school’s Open House where they can peruse the Book Fair, tour classrooms, talk with teachers and administrators, visit with other families and apply for the following school year.
When the school week begins, the activities of each day focus on the virtues set forth in our theme. We hold outreach efforts to the local community, and celebrate the lives of Saints. Our week concludes with a friendly volleyball competition between the 8th Grade class and the staff.
Talent Show: St. Norbert Catholic School strives to build talented individuals through a variety of creative opportunities. To that end, we are proud to present our Talent Show every year. With acts from students in grades three through eight, this event offers a safe and enjoyable venue for students to share their talent with the school. Each year we enjoy piano recitals, dance routines, comedy skits and singing. Our talent show coordinator enlists the help of students to hold regular rehearsal times, handle stage lighting, music and sound.
Field Day: As the school year winds down, spirits begin to rise at St. Norbert Catholic School. Each year, we capture that feeling in the last week of school and designate an entire day to celebrate the coming of summer vacation. Field Day is coordinated by our seventh grade, and includes outdoor games on the field, an all-school movie and a special lunch and snack bar. The seventh graders organize teams made up of students from all grade levels and coordinate the competitions and activities. The profits from the snack bar and lunch support the 8th Grade Class East Coast Expedition for the following year. Every year this tradition creates memorable moments for everyone participating.
